Student Stories - 11 May 2026
With a background in strategic design and human development, Dr. Daniela Terrile discovered coaching as a natural extension of her work in transformation and systemic change (addressing root causes, not just symptoms). In this Student Story, she shares how training with The Coaching Academy supported her development as a coach and shaped her approach to facilitating meaningful, lasting change.
Coaching came into my life as a natural continuation of my personal and professional journey. Coming from a background in strategic design and human development, I have always been deeply interested in transformation and systemic change. I discovered that coaching provided a language and structure to facilitate this transformation in an ethical and conscious way.
One key moment was realising how often people feel trapped in repetitive patterns, whether in their personal or professional lives. I wanted to develop a methodology that would empower individuals to navigate these challenges with awareness and agency. My training in systemic coaching (addressing root causes, not just symptoms) allowed me to integrate different perspectives, enabling people to see beyond their immediate difficulties and unlock new possibilities.
I was drawn to coaching because of its potential to create real and lasting change. Unlike traditional consulting or advising, coaching respects the client’s ability to find their own solutions. This approach aligned perfectly with my systemic view of the world, where every individual is interconnected with a broader environment, and change happens through awareness and intentional action.
What excites me the most is witnessing those moments of insight when clients suddenly see a new perspective or realise they have the power to shift their circumstances. Coaching is about facilitating transformation, and every session offers an opportunity to witness growth, empowerment, and deep personal discoveries.
Initially, I was fascinated by the structure and techniques of coaching, but over time, my passion has deepened into an understanding of its profound impact. I now see coaching as a dynamic process that integrates psychology, neuroscience, and systemic thinking. When I was a young girl, I remember I said to my mother that I would have loved to read human minds.
My approach has evolved to incorporate mindfulness, embodiment practices, and even elements of shamanic traditions, helping clients reconnect with themselves on multiple levels.
One of the most rewarding lessons is that true transformation doesn’t come from giving answers but from asking the right questions. Coaching has taught me the power of deep listening and the art of holding space, allowing clients to access their own wisdom and strength.
I discovered The Coaching Academy while searching for structured, high-quality coaching training that aligned with ethical and professional standards. Its reputation for excellence and the emphasis on practical application made it a perfect fit for my learning journey.
Stay curious and open to the process. Coaching is not just about learning techniques but about developing a mindset of growth and reflection. Practice as much as possible, seek feedback, and trust that your unique voice as a coach will emerge over time.
One breakthrough moment was when I realised that coaching is not about “fixing”. During one of my practice sessions, I had a client who felt stuck in a career transition. Instead of giving suggestions, I asked a powerful systemic coaching question that helped them see their situation in a completely new light. That moment reinforced my belief in the power of coaching to unlock deep insights.
I use my coaching skills in multiple ways. I work with individual clients and conduct team coaching sessions. I also integrate coaching into my work as an educator, supporting leaders and professionals in developing their self-awareness and decision-making skills.
I identify as a Systemic Coach and Supervisor, specialising in leadership development, systemic coaching, and shamanic practices. My work bridges the corporate world with personal transformation, helping clients align their professional and personal lives.
One of my favourite tools is the Systemic Questioning Method, which helps clients uncover hidden dynamics in their situations. A question I often use is: “If you look at this challenge as part of a larger system, what patterns do you notice?” This opens up new perspectives and deeper insights.
Clients often tell me that my coaching helps them gain clarity, confidence, and a deeper connection with their true purpose. Many describe feeling more empowered to make decisions and navigate change with greater ease. Some have even said that coaching with me has been life-changing, helping them shift long-standing personal and professional patterns.
One of the most powerful moments was coaching a client who was struggling with self-doubt in their leadership role. Through a combination of systemic questioning and reflective exercises, they uncovered a limiting belief that had been holding them back for years. By the end of our sessions, they had developed a new mindset that allowed them to lead with confidence and authenticity. Seeing that transformation was incredibly rewarding.
I am particularly curious about the intersection of neuroscience and systemic coaching. Understanding how the brain processes change and how systemic patterns influence behaviour can significantly enhance the effectiveness of coaching interventions.
In the next chapter, I see myself expanding my supervision practice and integrating a new supervision methodology both in Europe and Japan where I bought a wonderful Kominka (a traditional Japanese house).
