Coach In The Spotlight - Louise Cox

The Coaching Academy Blog

Posted: July 2015

Louise Cox shares with us her story of becoming a Relationship Coach

What brought you to coaching?

I was lost in a career I loathed and when I read about the free coaching weekend, I thought what is there to lose? Once there, I knew instantly this was the career for me. I enjoyed the whole weekend and it’s the first time I found something meaningful and worthwhile as a career, as I’d always wanted to make a difference and support people, but never knew how.

What were your original thoughts for applying the coaching?

I was worried about costs and affording the course, however The Coaching Academy was very supportive and patient with me when making up my mind.

What was your profession before becoming a coach?

Personal Assistant

What did you find most interesting to learn?

The whole coaching process was interesting to learn about.

What was the most rewarding part of the training/journey?

When completing the qualification, as I did this with a distinction! All the hard work paid off!

How did the qualification slot in with your current life?

The qualification was flexible and I had control over when I studied, so there was no pressure to work to a specific deadline.

Where are you now? How are you using your coaching skills?

I now have my own Coaching Company. After I qualified with The Coaching Academy, I went on to become qualified as a Relationship Expert and Qualified Coach in Strategic Intervention, Marriage Education & Divorce Prevention. I’m a Speaker, Author and Creator of RelationFit Bootcamp and the 5-Step Blueprint To Create The Relationship You Deserve. My niche is empowering women to create happy, meaningful and sustainable relationships. Because of my extensive knowledge and experience in marriage education, relationships and emotional mastery this enables me to coach on a range of emotional issues that my clients may present and not just in my specialist field of relationships. I've been nominated for 12 Awards in my industry, and have recently been shortlisted from some 333 nominations for Business Woman of the Year via Niche Magazine in Leicester. I was recently invited as a Guest Speaker at the first ever UK Dating and Relationship Conference as an expert in the field. I’ve also been approached by local media and spoken publically at events around the UK. I’ve also been an Ambassador for Leicester Business Women for the last 4 years.
I’ve created my own coaching programmes including:
1) The 5-Step Blueprint To Get The Relationship You Deserve ™ which explains ‘how’ to be happy within and create sustainable loving relationships
2) ‘Relation-FIT Bootcamp ™’ which helps women come together to support and empower each other to create the relationships they want.

What is your coaching niche and why did you choose it?

Relationship Coaching, people were naturally drawn to me with their relationship problems and having experienced a fair few myself, I felt pretty competent in this area, even before I studied the subject specifically.

What is the best thing that could happen to your coaching business in the next 2 years?

To have a thriving online successful business that would be helping people from all over the world. I’d still being coaching on a 1-1 basis as I really enjoy it. I’d also be working for The Coaching Academy as a Coach.

What is your favorite coaching question?

What is the benefit of this to you? This is a real powerful one as the client really stops to think and if they’re being negative they realise that it has no benefit whatsoever to their life. What do you enjoy most about being a coach? Seeing the change in people from when they first attend, to when they leave. Also seeing their smiling face when they’ve reached a breakthrough.

What are your top tips for coaches currently in training?

Don’t procrastinate over finishing your course, it is easy to do. I wasted years doing this and made excuses, but when I finally knuckled down, it didn’t take me long to qualify at all. Finally never give up trying to make it a success because it does take time.

What are your top tips for coaches that are about to qualify?

Don’t be disheartened or feel isolated when you’re suddenly on your own, you can always join other coaching groups for support. What are your top tips for people who are in a similar situation to yourself? Keep enjoying what you do and find yourself a coach! Every coach needs a coach, otherwise you risk working too hard and could start burning out.
