What does it mean to be an inclusive coach?

12:00pm on Tuesday 14th of May 2024

Join your host Sharon Lawton for another Coaching Conversation with leading coach / motivational speaker Rasheed Ogunlaru, associate trainer of The Coaching Academy.

“What does it mean to be an inclusive coach?”

As coaches based in the UK and beyond we are fortunate to serve clients with a rich and diverse backgrounds, personalities, cultures, learning / thinking styles. Each person that we coach is unique with their own unique circumstances. Many may face internal, external and institutional challenges, concerns and constraints based on or linked to their background, identity and environments. Clients may also have preferences and needs on how they wish / need to be seen, supported, and coached. This means that we coaches have to go on an ongoing journey of self-awareness, self-discovery, openness, personal-interpersonal and cultural awareness so that we can provide the space, coaching and support that meets the coaches needs.

In this coaching conversation, you will learn tools to:

  • Understand yourself – your journey, your preferences and prejudices
  • Understand your clients – their unique self, story, skills, background and learning styles.
  • Understand how to coach – mindfully, inclusively and effectively by deepening our awareness, cultural intelligence and compassion …and by coaching flexibly and creatively.

In this inspiring session Rasheed, will highlight the importance of creating safe space, connection and coaching creatively.  He will also guide us through an exercise to help us along our way.
