The Coaching Academy Blog - 16 May 2025
In this week's blog, we are catching up with Coaching Academy graduate Kirsty Knott. Kirsty shares how coaching has transformed her life. It helped her gain clarity on what she truly wants, build real confidence, and stop worrying about others' opinions. This shift has not only grown her business but also improved her personal life.
Coming from a 20-year corporate career, including 10 years in HR, I always loved helping others grow and reach their potential. Supporting people to develop and become the best version of themselves was the most fulfilling part of my job. However, after having my son in 2023, I realised I needed a change. I wanted the freedom to build a career that worked around my family, while still doing what I love. I spent time reflecting on my values and what I truly wanted from my career, which led me to coaching. It felt like the perfect fit, it was a way to support others, utilising my skills, while creating the flexibility I needed in my own life.
Coaching has been incredible for me. It has given me a deeper understanding of what I truly want, rather than what I think I should be doing. It has helped me stop worrying about what others think and to build real confidence in myself. This has not only helped me grow my business but has also improved my personal life. I show up better for myself, my family, and my clients. It was especially valuable when my husband, Anth, was diagnosed with cancer last year. Coaching gave us the tools to navigate such a difficult time, it helped us to focus on what we could control, manage our emotions, and support each other.
I researched several coaching organisations while looking for the right qualification. I attended webinars, compared courses, and explored different options, but The Coaching Academy really stood out. The level of support, the quality of training, and the flexibility it offered made it the best choice for me.
I was on maternity leave when I started my training, which meant I could fit it around my little boy. My husband and I worked as a team, he would take over parenting duties after work while I attended webinars, and I made the most of nap times to study. The flexibility of the course allowed me to work at my own pace, which led to me qualifying with a distinction within nine months.
I use my coaching skills daily, both in my coaching business and in my personal life. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is how to truly listen, not just what people are saying but, body language, tone of voice and what they are not saying. This has made a huge difference in my relationships. Coaching has given me a new way of communicating and supporting those around me, whether it’s my clients, family, or friends.
I have big plans for my business! I want to expand my one-to-one coaching offer, develop group programmes, and work with organisations to support their employees. My mission is to help ambitious women overcome self-doubt, build confidence, and create fulfilling careers on their terms.
Coaching has not only changed my career but has also changed my life. It has given me the confidence to build a business that aligns with my values, the flexibility to be present for my family, and the resilience to navigate life’s toughest challenges. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.
If you are considering becoming a coach too…do it! You won’t regret it. Surround yourself with a strong support network, don’t wait until you feel ‘ready’ to start coaching, because the best way to learn is by doing. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll grow!
Thank you Kirsty for sharing your inspiring coaching journey with us.
