The Coaching Academy Blog - 09 May 2025
In this week’s blog, we’re celebrating Coaching Academy graduate coach Alice Kingsnorth who, after witnessing the life-changing results others were achieving with the support of a coach, felt inspired to explore coaching for herself. It wasn’t until she experienced private coaching firsthand - while managing her own team - that everything clicked. Very soon after that, she knew coaching was a career that aligned with her natural gifts and passions, and that’s when she signed up to learn more with us. Read on to discover how her journey unfolded and what’s possible when you follow that inner nudge.
Straight out of university, I landed my first full-time role working within the coaching industry, so for the last 12+ years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside and learning from so many incredible coaches. After witnessing life-changing results that others were creating with the support of a coach, I finally got to experience private coaching myself when I managed my own team. Very soon after that, I knew this was a career that aligned with my natural gifts and passions, and so that’s when I signed up to learn more with The Coaching Academy!
Coaching has given me that clarity I spent too many years searching for by myself, but perhaps more importantly, it’s helped me to re-connect with my true essence by clearing all of those limiting beliefs that simply weren’t mine in the first place. As a result, I now have the confidence to keep going go after what I know I want to experience and do with my life – I have since moved from London to Lima, Peru, and live the life I once used to dream of, so it really has been life-changing for me!
I came across the free Introduction to Life Coaching event and attended back in 2018. I was still employed full-time back then, but it set the wheels in motion, and after taking 13 months out to travel the world and another 2 years of freelancing as a Writer and Editor, I signed up for the Life Coaching Diploma in 2022.
Now that the entire coaching qualification is online, it’s perfect for anyone. My eldest was 18 months at the time of enrolment so I was juggling my freelance business and parenthood during the day, so the diploma fitted in perfectly with the evening classes.
I absolutely loved witnessing the breakthroughs and real-life changes that were being made as a result of the coaching sessions I led, as part of my diploma – this will always be my favourite part about coaching. I also really enjoyed connecting with other students and exchanging our experiences and learnings, and I’ve created some lovely friendships as a result!
I now have my own business that supports parents in activating their innate power so that they can lead their life with complete confidence, clarity, and purpose, whilst keeping the health and happiness of their family a priority. My coaching skills are therefore weaved throughout my work, whether it’s inside my private offers, group programmes or my written content. I also weave coaching skills throughout my own methodology, which is called “Through the Written Word”, as I get my clients to coach themselves through a science-backed process by asking specific open-ended questions.
My favourite tool is similar to the “rocking chair” exercise, where I get my clients to zoom out and reflect on their life as if they’re about to share their life story with their grandchildren – and then we focus on what actions they can take in the present moment that align with the creation of this life story, so they can actually LIVE the story they one day want to tell.
Questions to ponder for this: What decisions are you so grateful you made throughout your life? What experiences did you choose to create? What impact did your presence have on others?
My favourite coaching question is: What would you do if you had absolutely no fear at all?
I’ve had clients who have secured their dream job within days of us working together, I’ve had parents thanking me for helping “save our family” due to dissolving toxic relationship struggles in just 3-4 weeks, and I’ve had others who have witnessed health transformations due to my work – such a range of results, but the common theme is being able to tap into their own personal power and using the written word to guide themselves back to their true essence.
Based on my own experience as a parent, and as someone who has activated and embodied my personal power to great depths, I can see myself taking my coaching business to a level where my methodology becomes the go-to approach for any parent who is ready to take full responsibility and create a life of authenticity, joy and excellent health for both themselves and their children – because this is truly the power we all hold and I’d love for it to become mainstream wisdom through a tool that is easily accessible (you just need a pen and paper)!
Firstly, don’t keep putting it off like I did! If you know coaching is calling you as a career, it’s because it’s already in your future, so don’t overthink or doubt your decision. Seek out other coaches online and attend any free coaching-related workshops or masterclasses to get a feel for the type of coach you’d like to be – there really are no limits on how you can use your coaching skills!
And if you’d love to start your own Coaching Business, don’t wait to start building your brand/online presence, because when you finally have the coaching qualification and feel ready to put your offers out there, you’ll thank yourself that you already have a brand that people can recognise and trust, because you’ve put in the time to build it.
It’s very common for coaches to overthink their “niche” – as if they need to find one before they start coaching or work it out, but the truth is… YOU are the niche! There’s no one else with your exact combination of skills, natural talents, life experience and passions put together, so focus on the ideal person you would love to work with, based on what YOU bring to the world, and you’ll find your niche finds you… that’s how I landed on becoming a “Personal Power Coach for Parents” – it wasn’t a straight line to get here, but I did follow what lit me up along the way and it all became clear as I took another step forward in my business.
Thank you Alice for sharing your encouraging and inspiring coaching journey with us!
