Self-esteem is a make-up of the thoughts, feelings and opinions we hold about ourselves, over time these habits of negative thinking can create beliefs about how we see ourselves and dent our self-worth. These beliefs however arenít fixed and can change, depending on the way we think.

I'm a firm believer in the power of knowing ones 'purpose' - as an individual and as an organisation. From experience I know that purpose can serve as a powerful motivator and a yardstick for making the hard choices necessary to be successful, but only if it is accompanied by a clear understanding of how you're going to fulfil it and most importantly it is put to practical use in everyday decisions and actions i.e. it is authentic and credible.

When someone uses the word brave the images that immediately come to my mind are soldiers fighting on the front line or people battling illness. So when I recount the story of the last year of my life and people use the word brave to describe it, it never used to ring true.

The ability to set goals makes an enormous contribution to the success of an individual. Most successful people are goal-orientated. They take time to identify what it is that they want and they build up a really clear and detailed picture of what achieving the goal will look and feel like. They then take regular action to move towards their goal. Sounds simple enough right?

Limiting beliefs are those things you believe about yourself that place limitations on your abilities. Limiting beliefs are simply assumptions about reality that are not true. In order for our actions to have the greatest positive effect, we need to have beliefs that are as close to reality as possible - deceiving ourselves will take us further from the goal.
