We love to celebrate the success of our coaches here at The Coaching Academy, many of whom are doing great work within particular niches. Today we talked to Julie Kerr to discuss her coaching niche, helping women who suffer from Bulimia to be empowered in their recovery and in their future goals.
I coach women with Bulimia and on Bulimia Recovery.
I had suffered from Anorexia and Bulimia for 15 years myself whilst I was modelling and recovered without any outside intervention. At the time I wasn’t really sure how I’d recovered – I don’t think I gave it a second thought, I was just happy to be free from what had been years of misery. I decided to find out how I had recovered but the sheer amount of information online was confusing and conflicting, as well as unhelpful.
Then, whilst completing my training with The Coaching Academy, I realised that coaching could make a huge difference to those who suffer from the condition, by empowering them to start thinking differently and find the right ways for them to recover more independently. If I knew what I know now, I would have recovered far more quickly and with far less of a struggle and I saw that I could, on completion of my coaching training, now help others do the same.
All these lovely women (young and not so young) needlessly lose years of their lives; they lose opportunities, possibilities and don’t achieve their full potential. I help them to see that they can in fact achieve what ever they want if they know what to do and how to do it.
Coaching empowers my clients to find their own solutions to the challenge of eating disorders. This can include freedom from the eating disorder, and the thoughts and feelings that maintain it, increased confidence and self-esteem, a new view of life and creating a future of their own design.
I use YouTube, Social Media and my website – I also have some free videos and a free eBook.
At the moment none, but I’m going to create a self help product and some online workshops and webinars, as I think this will be more acceptable for my niche due to the secrecy and shame associated with bulimia.
