From student to award-winning coach in less than two years: Rebecca Tucker

The Coaching Academy Blog

Posted: February 2020

We caught up with our inspiring and award-winning coach, Rebecca Tucker, for a quick Q&A after the 2019 International Coaching Awards. We hope you enjoy her inspiring story!

Rebecca Tucker is a confidence and mental health recovery coach, who uses techniques from coaching and CBT Therapy to make a lasting difference. Rebecca is also a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner working within the NHS, helping people overcome challenges with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and more.

Rebecca won the Best Newcomer Award at the 2019 International Coaching Awards, less than two years after starting her coaching journey with The Coaching Academy!

The Best Newcomer Award is awarded to a qualified coach, who has recently graduated and is using their coaching skills uniquely and powerfully to grow a thriving coaching practice, in any niche within a business or corporation.

When did your coaching journey start?

It started last year in January [2018]. I went to the two - day event and it's something that I've been hoping to do for a couple of years and so I was really glad that I went. As soon as I did it I thought now's the time - don't think about the money or how you’re gonna do it. At the time I was working full-time and doing my Masters but I just felt like the time was right.

What made you choose The Coaching Academy?

Well, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I’ve been following on Facebook for quite a while, I saw what they were doing and I saw the name popping up a few time and so I thought this is where I need to be. I haven’t looked back since!

Where do you see yourself in two years?

In 2 years time, I’d love to be continuing what I do working with women, well, primarily women, who have had mental health issues and are looking for that next step in their lives. And then I’m hoping to take that further working with younger children, about 13 to 18 years old, who are going through a really difficult time in school and who will need that coach in their lives to support them.
