We caught up with our inspiring and award-winning coach, Ebonie Allard for a quick Q&A for the Coach in The Spotlight column.

Ebonie shared more about her work as a coach, podcaster and author. She also tells us what it meant to have this hard work recognised at the International Coaching Awards last year when she won International Coach of the Year 2018. We hope you enjoy her inspiring story.

Can you introduce yourself and your business?

Hi, I'm Ebonie. I'm the creator of The Misfit to Maven Way, The Value Filter™ system and host of the podcast ‘Adulting, with Ebonie.’  I wrote a book called 'Misfit to Maven; from ARGH to AHHH' and my second book will be out in 2020. I am a coach, an author, an advocate and an artist. My company Misfit Enterprise Ltd, offers coaching, education, and transformational experiences that inspire and facilitate personal growth and radical responsibility.

What is your coaching niche?

I work with people who want to live a life less ordinary. Who feel like square pegs in a round hole world. I empower self-selected Misfits to build businesses and lives less ordinary, that are as extraordinary and unique as they are. Ones that feel as good on the inside as they perhaps look on the outside. It is my mission to help 100,000 Misfits know that they belong, and live fully rounded, three-dimensional, successful, FUN and self-governed lives, and to create a way of living for all that is truly long term sustainable.

Can you tell us about your experience of winning International Coach of the Year at the 2018 awards?

It was truly an honour. It was so lovely to be recognised and valued for the work that I am doing in the world and to meet so many other inspiring change-makers. It's such a joy to be surrounded by so many wonderful coaches and to have the opportunity to spend time celebrating our achievements and contribution.

How has this award benefitted you personally and professionally?

It is so important to me to be a part of a community that cares about the quality and integrity of accredited coaching. Being awarded has allowed me and others to value and recognise the energy and intention that goes into my work. I feel like it also gave my clients and community a sense of pride and reassurance.

What was your favourite part of the awards evening?

Meeting fellow coaches, watching people being celebrated and feeling seen and having Pam Lidford give me my award.
