Distance Learning - Rafael Pompeo

The Coaching Academy Blog

As a language teacher in Brazil, namely English and German, I have always been interested in my students' personal development. One trait that made me stand out from other teachers was that I maintained my students knew what was best for them to learn. Working as a bridge to where they deemed important to get to. This methodology happened to be quite similar to coaching.

As a language teacher in Brazil, namely English and German, I have always been interested in my students’ personal development. One trait that made me stand out from other teachers was that I maintained that my students knew what was best for them to learn, working as a bridge to where they deemed important to get to. This methodology happened to be quite similar to coaching.

When I learned that coaching could provide me with the skills I needed to help people in a professional way, I decided to start my qualification with an international institution. That way I would be able to add further skills to my existing teaching business. But most of all, I thought I would be able to make a meaningful difference in both mine and people’s lives. I decided to sign up for a distance course at The Coaching Academy.

I was surprised to learn that coaching is, in fact, quite an old a self-development technique dating back to Aristotle’s time.

When I started practicing and saw that my coachees were making a meaningful improvement in their lives within a short period of time it truly increased my drive to progress further.

During the course, the mentoring sessions and the practical assessments were really enjoyable as I was able to get personal contact with The Coaching Academsy personnel, which was always so kind, understanding and professional towards my needs.

Besides adding value to my existing teaching business, coaching has helped boost my confidence regarding how I advertise my business. It also made me realise that before helping others change I had to set and overcome challenges for my own self. I learnt how to overcome some strong embedded limiting beliefs and even got rid of some long-lasting vices. Which has made me a stronger person!

I am now starting to promote free coaching workshops to raise the awareness of what coaching is about in the region where I live in Brazil so that i can smoothly make the transition from being a teacher to being a coach.

I consider my niches to be crisis management, lifestyle change for adults and career choice for teenagers. I have chosen these areas as I personally have succeeded well in them. My true dream is, however, to be build up a reputation for spreading coaching to children and teenagers who struggle to make a living in Brazil.

My favourite coaching question is: “What evidence do you have to state you are bad at…?”. It usually brings about the moment of truth to the client, the moment they understand there is nothing they should worry about other than the image they create about themselves.

The most beautiful moment in a session? It is when I see the sparkle in my client’s eyes after they realise they have the power to build a good life for themselves. They feel so light and empowered they can almost fly!

In order to be a coach, you need to love working with people, be patient, understanding but at the same time firm.

You are about to embark on a journey of self-discovery, whereby you will use it to assist others to find their talents and make important decisions that will in turn make them happy.

Whenever you feel butterflies in your stomach towards the end of your course, bear in mind that it may be a limiting belief playing up. Work on this and be strong to go out there and win!

In a rapidly changing world, humankind desperately needs coaches. Go the extra mile to find out clients who will profit from your help. Be it in the countryside, overseas, or even on your doorstep. The world needs you!
