For many years now, our very own Managing Director, Bev James has been working closely with Dame Kelly Holmes and her team offering coaching, mentoring and training to retired world class athletes.
Over the last few months, this relationship has evolved with some of our Coaching Academy students now also joining Bev in supporting these athletes and the work of the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that all of our work has now been formalised and cemented as The Coaching Academy officially join the likes of BP, Comic Relief, UPS and Morgan Hunt by becoming a National Supporter of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust (DKHLT).
The Coaching Academy have donated tens of thousands of pounds worth of coaching training to enable Olympians, Paralympians and retired athletes to set up as a personal performance coach. In return, these athletes pay it forward by giving back to young people through mentoring and coaching programmes run by the DKHLT.
The Double Gold Champion herself, Dame Kelly Holmes says, “Bev James has provided impeccable business coaching to retired world-class athletes who support my charity” to which Bev replied, “It is an absolute honour to be able to work with the DKHLT. Coaching is all about goals and getting lives back on track so we couldn’t think of a better charity to be partnering with”. I have seen first hand the impact the athletes have on young lives. They provide support, inspiration and valuable guidance that makes a positive and lasting difference to young people.
The DKHLT works with disadvantaged young people delivering a range of personal development programmes across the country.
Athletes are a great source of inspiration for these young people as they understand the highs and the lows of trying to achieve success and have experienced setbacks and the power of mind-set first hand.
It is such an honour for us here at The Coaching Academy to be able to assist these world class athletes with our world class coaching training. We hope this partnership will continue to go from strength to strength!
