I came across a piece of information recently from the International Personnel Management Association, that really helped me to focus on the growing role coaching has in boardrooms across the world. “Ordinary training typically increases productivity by 22%,” they said, “while training combined with coaching increases productivity by 88%”. When a major industry body attributes such a resounding achievement to the role of coaching, it really shows the impact coaching has had on the corporate world in the last ten years.
That idea was backed up for me by a piece in The Daily Telegraph which suggested 39% of FTSE 100 CEOs had used a professional coach. That’s an amazing achievement for such a relatively young profession – though of course it highlights that there are 61 of the country’s most extraordinary business leaders out there in need of our help!
