Leadership is a massive concern within the corporate environment. Large companies may well employ you as a coach with the sole goal of enhancing the quality of overall leadership within their organisation. As such, it is a crucial business issue for new coaches to come to terms with, and a very important section within the programme.
Your tutor will consider a wide range of leadership issues with you. How would you differentiate leaders from managers? What are some of the common issues facing corporate leaders? What are some of the typical competencies and behaviours displayed by leaders?
Coaches are sometimes brought in to business organisations to identify the leaders of the future, or work on leadership with newly appointed senior managers. As so often in coaching, the GROW model can be vital in developing those leadership skills. You will consider the transforming power of effective leadership, and learn to identify and work with leaders of many different styles.
As they are significant business people in their own right, it is useful to have a range of strategies for coaching leaders, and your tutor will work with you on identifying areas for coaching with these executive clients.
The exciting challenge of working with corporate executives on leadership is one of the most rewarding fields open to those working in the corporate environment.
